Shelley Hickey has argued before the Washington State Supreme Court on behalf of the City of Seattle, answered a real estate Q&A hotline for realtors, served on a State Bar Attorney Character and Fitness Board, and served as hearing examiner for administrative drug forfeiture and abatement cases for several cities in Washington. As a lawyer practicing in both the State of Washington and Texas during her 27 years of practice in both the public and private sector, her clients come from all walks of life, including homeowners desiring to sell, buy or build, to business owners navigating trade secret laws or seeking to sell their business, to city departments, including the police, office for civil rights and municipal utilities.
She has handled pivotal legal issues in construction lien litigation, trade secret litigation, commercial lease negotiations, state sales tax audits and curing title to assist closing the sale of or a loan on commercial and residential real property, as well as general corporate and estate planning matters. Since beginning private practice with a 30-lawyer law firm in Bellevue, Washington, she has worked with landowners, developers, business owners, including start-up businesses, non-profits, and countless individuals tackling business and real property related legal matters. Currently, her practice focuses on clients seeking to resolve legal issues related to real property, business and estate planning, ranging from simple to complex.
Upon moving to Texas in 2003, Shelley attended Class XIX of Leadership Richardson and joined the Richardson Rotary Club serving as President for 2011-2012, and donating much time and effort to civic work sponsored by her club. Shelley recently married Ben in 2014, who has worked the majority of his career in the automotive industry for manufacturers including Toyota, Audi and Volkswagen. While she considers herself lucky to have found someone who understands work ethic and long hours at the office, she and Ben hope to find a few perfect spots nearby to escape for fly-fishing.
